Character Information

Character Name: Amber Fuji (Ambertwo)
Canon: Pokemon anime (Mewtwo Strikes Back film [the Origin of Mewtwo was omitted for the English dub and new 3D film, but dubbed as a special packaged with Mewtwo Returns), supplemented by the noncontradictory parts of The Birth of Mewtwo radio drama)
Canon Point: post-Mewtwo Strikes Back
Journal: [personal profile] starinheaven

Character Background: https://m.bulbapedia.bulbagarden.net/wiki/Amber_(anime)
Character Personality: Amber is a very patient and kind little girl with a nurturing spirit that loves the world, but who has also long accepted her death, unlike her unfortunately grief-stricken father, who keeps desperately trying to resurrect her until his own tragic end. She puts others first, a giving soul, even comforting others as she herself dies, but she’s not without opinions of her own and she’s understandably frustrated with enduring a seemingly endless cycle of death and rebirth.

Despite her rather boring life kept in stasis, behind glass walls, kept alive in a culture (physically, like the Pokemon, in the radio drama, but, likely for censorship reasons [to avoid depicting a naked child floating inside a glass tube], she’s depicted instead as living within light, human consciousness), Ambertwo is vibrant and cheerful, playfully reaching out to Mewtwo and answering his telepathic questions. Ambertwo is quite energetic, spinning and twirling and laughing in the world of her memories.

She has a nurturing and motherly nature and often worries about others, like her father, and also Mewtwo... when she first sees Mewtwo, she exclaims that he’s cute and thinks living might not be so bad if she can have such a cute child... so, Mewtwo’s birth makes her happy, because he’s her new playmate and someone she can dote on, but it also shows how tired she is with her life kept in stasis. It must have been quite depressing and hard on her to watch, she was even present when her parents fought and her mother abandoned her father because of his insistence on bringing her back... her father’s deteriorating mental state and how he wouldn’t listen to her must have been very painful for her to watch.

Ambertwo, despite her name, isn’t the first clone of Amber, or even the second! She’s died and been reborn several times, retaining all her memories. Each of her clones only survive four years each before passing away (so, she’s had to live something like 16 years, at least eight spent in stasis.) But as she’s unable to experience the outside world beyond what she can see of the laboratory on New Island, her mindset is still very much that of eight year old Amber, just tempered by sadness, but she still makes the most of things with her imagination as a coping mechanism.

While she speaks in a very polite, thoughtful, and sometimes deliberate sounding way and might be more familiar with some words and scientific concepts she learns from her father or snippets of scientists’ conversations in the laboratory, she also speaks in a childlike way and has a child’s natural faith in the world, believes that everything has a reason to be, and speaks in an anthropomorphizing way about the world (when she dies, she believes she’s going to become a star in Heaven, she thinks the wind exists to help push people along, that the stars exist so we won’t feel lonely at night, etc.) She believes in some sort of life after death. When Amber’s injured in the car crash, she tells her father she’ll become a star in Heaven, but Dr. Fuji, unable to let her go, tells her she can only be that if she’ll always return to him, like Halley’s comet. It might just be a story Amber was told, but she believes it to be true, enough to bring it up as she dies.

She also references other bedtime stories her father tells her in the English version. She takes her fairy tales very seriously, she might not believe all of them, but she’s always open to possibilities of things beyond what could be explained scientifically or what is treated as fact n (in the original, she simply speaks about how he told her only humans cry from sadness, whereas other creatures, like Pokemon, only cry from being in physical pain... but she sees that isn’t true, because Mewtwo cried for her.)

She’s optimistic about life and truly loves the world, as she’s carefully preserved it in her memories, and encourages Mewtwo not to be sad, because he’s going to live and life is wonderful. She clearly believes a life out in the world is worth living and something to be enjoyed.

Gentle as she is, Amber does speak her mind and sighs about how tiresome her father’s attempts to keep her alive are and she even laughs at a sweet-toothed scientist for eating cake, telling Mewtwo it’s something usually only kids crave. If she feels strongly about something, Amber will speak her mind about it! She cares about others’ feelings and puts hers aside if it can’t be helped, but she also speaks freely and openly about how she feels, too. And she is a child, not an angel, so she’ll laugh if something strikes her as funny and she could even tease others, all in good fun! She might say something that’s a bit too direct or mean without meaning too, because she’s a little kid.

As for headcanons, as she died in a car crash, I’d imagine she’d have a lingering fear/uneasiness around cars and would be frightened by loud crashing sounds and large objects making sudden impact.

Character Abilities: Not applicable. She is an ordinary little girl! She’s not even old enough to be a Pokemon trainer.. Playing hopscotch and making daisy chains? Just ordinary stuff. ^^;

Items: just her clothes from her first lifetime, unless she shows up in a giant test tube... ^^;;

Imprint

You may provide *up to three options* for your initial imprint. If you do not use all three, you may delete the extra space. We recommend including at least one scenery imprint.

Imprint Type:
Summary: Describe your imprint in one simple sentence that doesn't rely on canon terms.
Full Details: Must be 500 words or less.

Imprint Type: Scenery
Summary: Amber’s “remember place,” her neighborhood in life.
Full Details: a quiet, residential area with homes that all look much alike, nestled together. White walks, red roofs, single and two-story homes. Rolling hills and streetlights.

Imprint Type: Scenery
Summary: Cloning machine from New Island laboratory (might not be functional/resulting clones often die before being born)
Full Details: Specialized computers to track brain activity and vitals, as well as to analyze samples. Machinery with metallic tube-like robot arms with clawed ends that extract DNA samples, such as hair, to analyze and identify organisms like humans or Pokemon. Large test tubes filled with culture medium to grow clones to maturation, after which they descending from the tube to squeeze through a stretchy, dark-coloured material at the base... many creatures are not viable enough to withstand the process, dying before ever being “born” is common, for humans and even for Pokemon.
Computer may contain Dr. Fuji’s log about the Mewtwo project (but maybe not the last of it, as Ambertwo died before that.)

Five replies in this TDM thread with Indigo!

This one is waaay too old to count, but still shows voice and writing ability well, I think! Aitwo/Ambertwo meets Mewtwo again and reminds him of his forgotten memories...
